Well said! Jesus is the best example of giving and we should live like Him as God wants to. There is no excuse of giving because we are always able in Christ provision. We are blessed and it is our time to blessed our God in the most high.

Thanks for your comment, Sukumar. I wouldn't say that our giving is to be based on "leading" only. It's not an optional thing. Jesus was clear that loving Him means obeying Him. In that sense, we ought to give because Jesus commanded us to give as a way to show our love for Him. But the difference here is that the motivation doesn't come from the Law or just pure obedience. Our love for Jesus is a response to His great love for us. So we don't need tithing as a guideline. As we understand God's love for us, our hearts will pour out in generous giving.

Really wonderful article. If we follow Bible fully, there won't be any problem. We must give all to the Lord based on the leading of the Spirit.
In the same time, if people has to offer purely on the leading only, most of the people may say that they don't have leading. So sometimes we must teach tithing as a starting point and then grow on.

[...] Consider how powerful those statements are when contrasted with what Jesus did for us. Think about what it would look like to base your giving on Jesus instead of tithing. I think then you’ll see why I don’t teach tithing as a guideline for giving. It was only a mere shadow of the things to come once Christ revealed God to us. Why wouldn’t we want to let Jesus be our example for giving? [...]
