Weekend Reading – 06/04/2010

Here are links to the carnivals I was in this week:

And here are some interesting articles I found this week:

  • The Simple Dollar – The Real MSM: Maintenance Saves Money ["An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Trent shares several ways to start maintaining your health, skills, home, automobiles, and relationships along with a tip on how to accomplish all your maintenance tasks.]
  •

  • The Oblivious Investor – Social Security: A Bond in Your Asset Allocation? [Mike discusses why you shouldn't count your Social Security or pensions as bond holdings when considering your asset allocation.]
  •

  • The Oblivious Investor – How Much Money Do I Need to Retire? (In 2 Easy Steps) [In another useful article, Mike shares a simple way to calculate "your number" - the amount of money you need to retire.]
  •

  • Get Rich Slowly – Casting Stones: When Is It Okay to Judge? [J.D.'s article on judging others' financial decisions garnered many comments from his readers. What's your take on the issue? How does this relate to Christians who are seeking to glorify God?]
  •

  • Bargaineering – ING Direct Electric Orange Overdraft Line of Credit [Have a problem with overdrafts on your checking account? Bank fees eating you alive? Jim shares an aspect that I really like about ING Direct's checking account - no overdraft fees. Instead, they charge you interest until you get your account balance out of the negative. The rate right now is about 7.25%, which works out to about $0.60 a month in fees for every $100 you're overdrawn. You can't beat that - though it would be best to break the habit of overdrawing your account altogether!]

       Have a great weekend!
